
KOTA KINABALU, 7 APRIL 2026 – In a bold step towards accelerating Sabah’s digital future, CTS Horizon Sdn. Bhd. (CTS), formerly known as Celcom Timur (Sabah) Sdn. Bhd., today unveiled its renewed identity and strategic direction at its rebranding launch event held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
The launch was officiated by Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, State Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister of Sabah, representing the Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Hj Hajiji Hj Noor, in the presence of CTS Chairman Mohamad Damshal Awang Damit, and members of the Board of Directors, alongside Chief Executive Officer, Zurinah Datuk Hanafiah, and CTS’s senior management team.
The event was attended by over 250 guests, including the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Inovation Sabah (KPSTI) Datuk James Ratib, as well as key stakeholders comprising regulatory bodies including the Malaysian and communications and Multimedia Commissio (MCMC), industry players, property developers, government and public sectors agencies, financial institutions, academia and non-government organisations, together with CTS staff.
In his officiating speech, Datuk Joniston highlighted the importance of strong digital infrastructure in driving Sabah’s socio-economic development:
“The strengthening of digital infrastructure is critical not only for communication, but also for unlocking opportunities in education, business, and overall socio-economic growth. CTS plays an important role as a key enabler in supporting Sabah’s digital development and competitiveness.”
He also said that the company’s transformation shows its readiness to take on a broader role as a strategic partner in shaping Sabah’s digital future. With more than three decades of e experience in Sabah, CTS has grown from its early beginnings into a key digital infrastructure provider in the state. At the core of this transformation is its renewed purpose, “Connecting the World for Tomorrow,” reflecting its commitment to delivering innovative connectivity solutions that connects communities, businesses, and industries.
Speaking at the event, Zurinah Datuk Hanafiah, Chief Executive Officer, said:

CTS’s vision, to become East ASEAN’s most preferred partner in connectivity solutions by 2035, reflects its ambition to expand its impact beyond Sabah while continuing to support the state’s digital transformation agenda.
CTS also formalised three strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with key partners; Sabah Net Sdn. Bhd., Edotco Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and Hap Seng Properties Development Sdn. Bhd., further strengthening its role in Sabah’s digital ecosystem. Collectively, these partnerships are expected to support the development of a more robust, scalable, and future-ready digital infrastructure landscape across Sabah.
